Currently there is widespread misinformation falsely claiming changes to the road and licencing rules for seniors in Australia (and overseas). Some of these claims include rules and law changes related to fines, curfews as well as more generic information about topics for seniors and others. These fake news articles have been debunked by relevant authorities.
Further investigation by Senior Driver Assessments reveals that these aren’t isolated pages but comprise a number of entire websites full of fake news. We suspect this is possibly part of black hat SEO efforts which manipulate Google search results or to display ads (or both), and others believe it is misinformation designed to damage our democracy. Whatever the case, it’s abhorrent.
The owners’ details of these websites remain hidden.
